How to play

Step 1 : Click on the 5 "?" icons, one by one, and select 5 things which you could switch off in your home for 1 hour.

Step 2 : See how much electricity, money and CO2 could be saved if you switched off these 5 things for 1 hour.

Step 3 : See how much electricity, money and CO2 could be save if all of the UK's 22 million households switched off the same 5 things as you for 1 hour.

Step 4 : Click on any of the 5 things you have selected and see what would happen if you switched off something else instead. 

Step 5 : If you enjoyed playing 5 things please invite your friends to give it a whirl, it's just for fun!

1kWh of electricity has been assumed to cost 12.26 pence (UK average)

1kWh of electricity has been assumed to emit an average of 0.527kgCO2 (UK average)

 

Households

The UK has been assumed to contain approximately 22 million households

A power station has been assumed to be able to generate 1 gigawatt (1,000,000,000 watts).
