Transition Scilly

Transition Scilly is a grassroots group which aims to help everyone on Isles of Scilly to reduce their carbon footprint and to increase their resilience to climate change.

Transition Scilly is part of the national Transition Town network. This network was founded by Rob Hopkins in the south Devon town of Totnes in 2006 and looks for positive solutions which embrace issues such as local food, renewable energy, sustainable transport and how to reduce energy use.

The bottom-up approach adopted by Transition Scilly aims to empower people and to ensure that solutions are focused and appropriate for the local community.

On the Isles of Scilly the core group of members include Adam White, Clare Lewis, Jonathan Smith, Kevin Leeman, Nick Lishman and Vickie Heaney.

Jonathan Smith, an organic farmer from St Martins, will talk about Transition Scilly's priorities, activities and plans for the future.
